ニュージーランドでM7.8、首都で強い揺れ「道ばたで泣き叫ぶ人も」 震源付近で1m50cmの津波【UPDATE】

ニュージーランドの南島で11月13日午前0時2分(日本時間13日午後8時2分)ごろ、M7.8の地震が発生した。

ニュージーランドの南島で11月14日午前0時2分(日本時間13日午後8時2分)ごろ、マグニチュード7.8の地震が発生した。震源の深さは23キロ。アメリカ地質調査所が発表した。

BBCによると、震源はクライストチャーチからおよそ95キロの地点。AP通信によると、震源からおよそ200キロ離れた首都ウェリントンでも強い揺れを感じたという。当局が被害状況を調べている。

ニュージーランドの災害対策当局は午前1時すぎ、南島と北島東部の沿岸部に津波警報を発令した。現地では強い余震が続いており、一部地域では地割れや停電などが報告されている。

ニュージーランド南島の北東部沿岸では津波の第1波が観測された。防災当局は津波に警戒する必要があるとして、海岸沿いの住民に避難を呼びかけている。また、震源付近では場所によって3m〜5mの津波も予測されるとして、高台に避難するよう呼びかけている

現地紙ニュージーランド・ヘラルドによると、「ウェリントンではサイレンが鳴り、通ばたで泣き叫んでいる人がいる」と伝えている。
