パキスタンで10代の少年、自爆テロ犯を食い止めて命を落とす

パキスタン北西部で、十代前半の少年が、学校を爆破しようとした自爆テロ犯を校門の前で食い止めたものの、爆発に巻き込まれて死亡した。パキスタン全土では、少年の勇気あふれる行動を称賛する声が広がっているという。

地元メディアによると、少年は北西部カイバル・パクトゥンクワ州の学校に通うエティザズ・ハッサン君。年齢について、BBCなどは15歳と報じている。

目撃者らの話では、1月6日午前8時ごろ、登校中のエティザズ君が学校の制服を着た男に学校の場所を尋ねられた。すると、男は学校に向かって走り出した。ほかの生徒たちがひるむ中、エティザズ君は男を止めようとして石などを投げた。それでも男が校門に近付こうとしたためエティザズ君がつかみかかったが、その際、男が身に着けていた自爆テロ用のチョッキ型爆弾を爆発させたため2人とも死亡した。ほか2人がけがをしたという情報もある。

朝礼のため集まっていた多くの生徒らが、エティザズ君の果敢な行動に救われて無事だった。BBCは、当時約2千人の生徒たちが校内にいたと伝えている。

エティザズ君の父ムジャヒド・アリさんは、地元紙に対し以下のように語ったと、BBCは伝えた。

「息子(の行動)は、彼の母親を悲しませた。しかし、命を失ったかもしれない多くの子どもたちの母親たちが泣くことを防いでくれた」

現場周辺はアフガニスタン国境に近く、反政府勢力パキスタン・タリバーン運動(TTP)の影響力が強い地域。イスラム教シーア派とスンニ派との宗教対立による衝突が繰り返されている。

●ソーシャルメディアには少年をたたえる書き込みも

現地は、女性教育の権利を訴え、昨秋ノーベル平和賞候補となったマララ・ユスフザイさんが、2012年10月にTTPに銃撃されて重傷を負った場所でもある。パキスタンではマララさんと並び称する声が高まっているといい、米CNNは次のように報じている。

エティザズ君を称賛する声はパキスタン全土に広がり、ソーシャルメディアでもその勇気を表彰すべきだとの声が高まっている。地元住民は「彼は何百人もの生徒の命を救った。(反タリバーン運動を展開している)マララ・ユスフザイさんよりも称賛に値する」と話している。
