パキスタン北部ペシャワルの空港で24日夜、着陸しようとしていた民間機を武装集団が銃撃し、乗客の女性1人が死亡したほか、乗務員3人が負傷した。 銃撃を受けたのは、乗客178人を乗せてサウジアラビアからペシャワルに向かっていたパキスタン国際航空756便。

銃撃を受けたのは、乗客178人を乗せてサウジアラビアからペシャワルに向かっていたパキスタン国際航空756便。警察によると、機体には6発の銃弾が当たり、うち1発が乗客の女性に命中、1発が機長をかすめた。また少なくとも1発がエンジンにあたっていたという。

パキスタン航空の関係者によれば、亡くなった女性は頭部に被弾。隣の座席にはこの女性の娘(9)が座っており、この関係者が機内に乗り込むと「お母さんが死んじゃった」と泣き叫んでいたという。

また同関係者は「機長はかろうじて難を逃れたが、命中していれば大惨事は免れなかっただろう」と話している。

パキスタンで空港が襲撃されたのは、今月に入ってこれで3回目。

ペシャワルの空港は2年前にも武装勢力タリバンの攻撃を受け、武装勢力側の5人を含む9人が死亡した。警察官の1人はロイターの取材に対し、同空港周辺は武装勢力から攻撃を受ける可能性があるので、夜間は警察も近づけないと話した。[ペシャワル(パキスタン) 24日 ロイター]
