カナダを訪問するイギリスのウィリアム王子一家は9月24日、西部ブリティッシュコロンビア州のビクトリア国際空港に到着し、ジャスティン・トルドー首相がウィリアム王子、キャサリン妃、及び両夫妻の子供のジョージ王子とシャーロット王女を出迎えた。
首相は王室メンバーそれぞれに直接あいさつしたが、ジョージ王子にハイタッチしようとしたところ、なんとも気まずいものとなってしまった。
大失敗！カナダ 🇨🇦 首相 @JustinTrudeau がジョージ王子 🇬🇧 にハイタッチ ✋？ロータッチと言ったほうがいいか？握手 👋？を求めたけど……。
動画を見ると、トルドー首相はジョージ王子の目線まで膝をかがめ手を上に向けて差し出した。3歳の王子は応じるそぶりがない。
首相は"ロータッチ"を試みるが、反応なし。今度は握手を求めるが、冷たく無視された。
ジョージ王子は、どうやら話が通じる相手ではないようだ。
王子に冷たくあしらわれてトルドー首相は、世間の注目を集めることになった。
ジョージ王子: 「お前は何者だね、田舎者?!」
あらら、ジョージ王子は氷のように冷酷だ
ジョージ王子は甘やかされておとぎ話の王子様みたいになっちゃたね。平民とはハイタッチしないなんてさ。
トルドー首相はこの仕打ちをあまり気にしなくていいだろう。2016年はじめ、ジョージ王子はアメリカのバラク・オバマ大統領と会ったときもパジャマのままだった。
