アメリカ・カリフォルニア州サンバーナーディーノの福祉施設で12月2日午前11時ごろ（日本時間3日午前4時ごろ）、銃乱射事件が起きた。死者14人、負傷者は14人以上にのぼった。ハフポストUS版などが報じた。

サンバーナーディーノはロサンゼルスから東に100kmほどの街。朝日新聞デジタルによると、事件が起きたのは発達障害がある人たちのケアなどをするNPOの施設。他の団体にも貸し出しており、事件が発生した時には何らかの行事が開かれていた模様だ。

CNNによると、容疑者は1〜3人とみられ、ライフルのような銃を使用、防護服などを着ていたという。また、容疑者は事件後に自動車で逃走した可能性もあり、警察は広範囲で警戒を強めながら捜査をしている。
