イギリス・シェフィールドで11月、女性に性的暴行を加えようと飛びかかった男性が返り討ちに遭い、深い傷を負う事案が発生した。

35歳のジョナソン・ホームズ容疑者は11月1日、イギリス・シェフィールドの通りで女性に襲いかかった。しかし女性の勇敢な反撃に遭い、両目に真っ黒なアザ、顔面には無数の傷を負いその場から逃走した。

12月1日、ホームズ容疑者には懲役4年半の判決が下ったとミラー紙が報じた。

被害にあった女性の裁判所での証言によると、ホームズ容疑者は早朝に女性の後を1マイル以上も付け、その後女性に襲い掛かり、近くの茂みの中に押し倒したという。

しかしこの女性は後を付けられていることに気付き、あらかじめ武器として使うために車のキーを手の中に仕込んでおいたという。またパートナーに電話をするために、携帯電話も出しておいた。

また、ホームズ容疑者は女性を押し倒して馬乗りになった時に、女性に「きっとお前も楽しいぞ」と言ったとも証言した。

ホームズ容疑者が舌を女性の口に捻じ込もうとした時、女性はありったけの力でホームズ容疑者の舌を噛み切った。ホームズ容疑者の手が緩んだところで女性は抜け出し、車のキーをホームズ容疑者の首に押し付けながら大声で助けを呼び続けた、と女性が裁判所で話している。

2人の通行人が女性の叫びを聞いたことから、ホームズ容疑者は逃走したと、レイチェル・ハリソン検事が地元紙シェフィールド・スターに話している。しかしホームズ容疑者は柵を飛び越える時に引っかかり、余計に傷が増えてしまったとのことだ。

ハリソン検事は、辛うじて性的暴行の被害を免れた女性の言葉を引用し、「もう彼は二度と女性に手を出そうとは思わないでしょう」と述べた。
