当初は、容疑者が映画館に侵入する際、少なくとも20人が負傷したとの情報もあったが、警察が使用した催涙ガスを吸い込んだとも報じられた。共同通信が地元メディアの情報として伝えたところによると、ドイツ警察当局者は、容疑者以外の負傷者は確認されていないと説明した。

マンハイム・モルゲン紙によると、ヘッセン州内相は「特殊部隊が館内に突入した後、警察が男を射殺した」と発表した。地元TV局「N-TV」によると、地元警察は容疑者以外に負傷者は出ていない、と語っている。また、ロイターによると、武装した男は「取り乱していた」という。

ビルド紙によると、警察は「25人が催涙ガスの被害を受けた」と語った。
