和歌山電鉄・貴志駅のマスコットとして人気を博したメスの三毛猫「たま駅長」が6月22日、急性心不全のため16歳で死んだ。たまの公式Twitterは25日、その死をユーモラスにこう伝えた。
亡くなった翌日の23日には、写真が投稿されていた。
