シドニー立てこもりで警官隊が突入 人質2人と容疑者死亡

オーストラリア最大都市シドニー中心部のカフェで15日午前、銃を持った男が客らを人質に取り立てこもった事件で、警官隊は16日午前2時(日本時間同0時)ごろ、店内に突入した。警察は、この事件で容疑者を含む男女3人が死亡、4人が負傷したと発表。事件は発生から16時間後に終結した。

[シドニー 16日 ロイター] - オーストラリア最大都市シドニー中心部のカフェで15日午前、銃を持った男が客らを人質に取り立てこもった事件で、警官隊は16日午前2時(日本時間同0時)ごろ、店内に突入した。警察は、この事件で容疑者を含む男女3人が死亡、4人が負傷したと発表。事件は発生から16時間後に終結した。

人質の数はこれまでに17人とみられている。警官隊が突入する前に、人質とみられる少なくとも6人が脱出した。

死亡した人質は34歳の男性と38歳の女性。容疑者に殺害されたのか、銃撃戦に巻き込まれて死亡したのか、現時点では不明という。

警察によると、立てこもっていた男はイラン出身の自称イスラム聖職者マン・ハロン・モニス容疑者(50)。オーストラリアのアボット首相との直接対話などを要求したと報じられた。

米治安当局者は、この男がテロ集団とつながっていたことを示す証拠は現時点ではないとの通知をオーストラリア政府から得ていると述べた。

地元メディアによると、容疑者はオーストラリアによるアフガニスタン紛争への介入に反発。アフガンで犠牲になった豪州兵の遺族に嫌がらせの手紙を送るなどし、2012年に有罪判決が下されている。

今回の事件を受け、カナダのハーパー首相など、世界各国の首脳らが相次いで懸念を表明。カナダでも今年10月、イスラム過激派とされる容疑者が議会を襲撃する事件が発生している。
