野村忠宏が引退 オリンピック柔道3連覇

オリンピックの柔道で3連覇を果たした野村忠宏選手(40)が8月24日、引退を表明した。公式サイトで「野村忠宏 現役最後の勝負」と題した記事でこう綴っている。

8月29日に出場する全日本実業柔道個人選手権大会で引退する事を決めました。

現役最後の勝負、精一杯戦います。

野村は1974年、奈良県生まれ。道場を開いていた父のもとで柔道を始め、天理高校、天理大学を経て1996年のアトランタオリンピックに出場し金メダル。2000年シドニー、2004年アテネでも優勝し、柔道史上初のオリンピック3連覇を達成した。2008年北京、2012年ロンドンも出場を目指したが、代表に選出されなかった。

背負い投げなど豪快な立ち技が魅力で、一本を取りにいく柔道が人々を魅了した。
