町田は合計269.09点、2位のジェーソン・ブラウン（アメリカ）が234.17点、3位はナム・グエン（カナダ）。ソチオリンピック銅メダリストのデニス・テン（カザフスタン）が224.74点で4位だった。なお、ソチオリンピック金メダリストの羽生結弦は出場していない。
町田は競技後のインタビューで、「後半3分くらいからは倒れそうだった。完全に自分との戦いだった」と語っている。
