南米アルゼンチンの海岸でトップレス姿の女性が警察官からとがめられた出来事があり、首都ブエノスアイレスで2月7日、上半身裸の女性ら数百人が、トップレスで日光浴する権利を求めてデモ行進をした。ロイター通信などが報じた。
警察は、女性に退去を求めた理由として「わいせつ物陳列」を禁じる刑法に違反するとしている。公共のビーチで女性が上半身裸になることがアルゼンチンの法律で認められているかどうかは不明。
トップレス姿の女性数十人も参加したデモ行進で、女性たちは、男性と同様に女性にもトップレスで日光浴する権利があると主張。海岸での事件は、アルゼンチン社会の男女不平等を示していると述べた。

デモの発端となったのは、アルゼンチンの地方のリゾート地の海岸で1月末に起きた騒ぎ。トップレス姿の女性3人を立ち退かせるため、約20人の警察官が駆けつけ、やじ馬たちも大勢集まって騒動となり、さらにこの様子を映した動画（※下に掲載）がインターネットで拡散した。
朝日新聞デジタルによると、中南米では「マチスモ」と呼ばれる男性優位主義の傾向が強く、最近も女性の殺害や暴行につながる事件が相次いでおり、今回、女性の不満や反発に火がついたという。
