黒人少年トレイボン・マーティンさん射殺無罪評決に全米およそ100カ所で抗議デモ ビヨンセも参加

アメリカ・フロリダ州で黒人少年トレイボン・マーティンさん(当時17)を射殺したヒスパニック系白人の元自警団員ジョージ・ジマーマンに無罪評決が下されてから1週間となる20日、黒人に対する人種差別だとして評決に抗議するデモが全米100カ所以上で行われた。

アメリカ・フロリダ州で黒人少年トレイボン・マーティンさん(当時17)を射殺したヒスパニック系白人の元自警団員ジョージ・ジマーマン被告に無罪評決が下されてから1週間となる20日、黒人に対する人種差別だとして評決に抗議するデモが全米およそ100カ所で行われた。

時事通信によると、この日のデモは、黒人運動活動家のアル・シャープトン氏が企画。事件を再捜査するよう政府に呼び掛けるのが目的としている。

ニューヨークでは、同市警察本部庁舎の前に数百人が集合。亡くなったマーティンさんの母親のほか、人気歌手のビヨンセさんもデモに参加した。マーティンさんの母親は、「彼はまだ子どもだった。ここにいる皆さんの子どもを守るためにも、活動を続けていきたい」と訴えた

ロサンゼルスでも裁判所の前におよそ300人が集まり、抗議の声を上げた。集まった人たちは、「アメリカよ立ち上がれ」などと書かれたプラカードを手に、「今こそ正義を」などと繰り返し叫んでいた。ロサンゼルスでは、21年前の1992年、人種問題をきっかけに50人以上が死亡する大規模な暴動が発生したこともあり、集会を呼びかけた団体は集まった人たちに決して暴力に訴えないよう呼びかけていた。

■オバマ大統領、黒人社会の葛藤を代弁「35年前の私だったかもしれない」

共同通信によると、オバマ大統領は19日、ホワイトハウスでの報道官の定例記者会見に予告なく現れ、少年は「35年前の私だったかもしれない」と述べ、自分が差別された体験も織り交ぜながら黒人社会の葛藤を代弁した。無罪評決を尊重するとしながらも、国民に黒人の考え方を説明し、黒人には痛みを分かち合う姿勢を示すことで沈静化を図った。
