アメリカのトランプ政権は1月21日、ホワイトハウスの公式サイトに「私たちの軍隊を再び強くする」とする声明を発表した。「軍服に身を包んだ男女は、世界最強の戦闘力を持ち、アメリカの自由の保護者だ」とした上で、以下のように書いてある。

我々の軍は、アメリカを守るためにあらゆる手を講じる必要がある。 他の国家が、我々を軍事力で上回ることを許すことはできない。トランプ政権は最高レベルの軍事的準備を追求する。

その上で、オバマ政権が進めていた防衛費の削減をやめて、議会に新たな予算を提出した上で軍隊を再建する計画を示した。また「イランや北朝鮮などの国」と名指しして、これらの国からミサイル攻撃を防ぐ最新のミサイル防衛システムを開発するとした。

また、トランプ政権の支持層に多いと見られる退役軍人のケアを充実させることを強調していた。
