大型で強い台風26号が日本列島に向かって太平洋を北上している。10月16日朝には関東地方に接近し、上陸する恐れも出てきた。気象庁では「関東に接近する台風としては10年ぶりの強さ」として、15日から16日かけて、西日本から北日本の広い範囲で、暴風や高波、大雨に警戒するよう呼び掛けている。

気象庁の台風情報によると15日15時現在、台風26号は時速35キロで北北東へ進んでいる。中心気圧は950ヘクトパスカル、中心付近の最大風速は40メートル、最大瞬間風速は55メートル。中心から半径190キロ圏内では、風速25メートル以上の暴風が吹き荒れている。

NHKニュースは、16日に最大瞬間風速が35〜50mの暴風が日本列島を襲うと報じている。

最大風速は▽関東と伊豆諸島、北海道で35メートル、▽東海と東北で30メートル、▽北陸で25メートルと予想され、最大瞬間風速は35メートルから50メートルに達するおそれがあります。

気象庁の内田裕之主任予報官は15日午前、臨時の記者会見を開いた。内田氏は「関東付近を通過する台風としては10年ぶりの強さ。通勤、通学時間帯の首都圏の交通機関に大きな影響があると予想される」と話したと、時事ドットコムが報じている。

26号が関東付近を通過する際の中心気圧は960ヘクトパスカル程度とみられ、2004年10月に静岡県・伊豆半島に上陸し関東を直撃した台風22号以来の強さという。

気象予報士の関口元朝さんは、日本気象協会の記事で以下のように書いている。

15日の昼前には、九州の太平洋側から関東で雨が降り始め、夕方からは東北にも活発な雨雲がかるでしょう。(北海道も前線の通過に伴って、雨や風が強まりそうです。)時間が遅くなるほど天気は悪化するいっぽうで、太平洋側では夜は雷を伴った激しい雨になる見込みです。なるべく早めに帰るようにしてください。

16日朝には、関東地方が暴風域に入る可能性が50%前後と高くなっており、関口さんは記事中で「暴風域の中では、風速が25メートル以上、瞬間的には50メートル以上と、トラックが横転するような暴風が吹き荒れる恐れも」と指摘した。

首都圏では通勤時間帯と台風の接近がかぶる見込み。気象予報士の望月圭子さんは、無理に通勤・通学をせず、時間をずらすなどの対策を取ることを推奨している。

首都圏では、16日の朝は、台風が最も接近する時間と、通勤や通学の時間が、ちょうど重なります。通勤や通学の時間をずらすなど、影響の大きい時間は、なるべく外出を控えて下さい。
