ウクライナ南部オデッサで5月2日、親欧米のウクライナ政権支持派と親ロシア派による衝突があり、労働組合の建物では火災も発生、47NEWSはオデッサ市当局の発表として41人が死亡したと報じた。
ウクライナ東部では重武装の親ロ派が公的施設を占拠し、政権の統制が取れない地域が拡大している。混乱が南部にも本格的に波及したことで政権は二正面作戦を強いられる。ロシアは混乱拡大を口実に国境地帯に展開している部隊による軍事的圧力を強める可能性もあり、ウクライナ側は苦しい対応を迫られそうだ。

ウクライナ東部ドネツク州では、5月2日に暫定政権が親ロシア派の武装集団を強制排除する軍事作戦に乗り出し、双方に死傷者が出る事態となっているが、混乱は南部の都市にも広がった。今年2月の政変後、一度の衝突で最多の犠牲者数となった。
時事ドットコムによると、ドネツク州などで行われている連邦制導入を求める親ロシア派のデモは、メーデーの1日から4日まで連休のため、人数が膨らみ、南部に飛び火した。5月25日の大統領選を控え、混乱が一段と深まっているという。
