南米対決となったコロンビア対ウルグアイは、2−0でコロンビアが勝利した。前半28分にMFハメス・ロドリゲスの先制点を決めると、後半5分にもハメス・ロドリゲスが追加点。4戦連発5ゴールと勢いにのるエースが決め、初のベスト8進出を決めた。
ブラジルとコロンビアは7月4日（日本時間5日未明）、準々決勝で対戦する。
