東京都千代田区の靖国神社の公衆トイレで、爆発音がして不審物が見つかった事件で、12月3日、時事ドットコムなど主要メディアは捜査関係者の話として、現場近くの防犯カメラに写っていた不審な男は短期滞在で入国した韓国人で、すでに出国していたと報じた。報道によると、現場に残された乾電池や電池ケースの一部に、ハングルがあったという。

事件は11月23日午前10時ごろ発生。産経ニュースによると、男は爆発音の約30分前から爆発音のしたトイレ周辺の複数のカメラに、眼鏡を掛けた黒っぽい服装でリュックサックを背負い、袋のようなものを持った姿で写っていた。毎日新聞は男は30代前後とみられると報じた。

報道によると、周辺の防犯カメラ映像を調べたところ、男は現場から立ち去ったあと、歩いて千代田区のホテルに向かった

■これまでの事件を振り返ると…

靖国神社では2011年12月、中国籍の男が神社の門の扉にガソリンのような液体をかけて火をつけたとして、警視庁が建造物等以外放火容疑で逮捕状をとり、当時男が服役していた韓国に身柄の引き渡しを求めた。しかし、韓国のソウル高裁は「(容疑者)劉強の犯行は政治的大義のために行われたものだ。政治的犯行を行った劉強を日本へ引き渡すことは大韓民国の政治秩序と憲法理念、そして多数の文明国の普遍的価値に合致しない」と指摘し、男を日本へ引き渡さないことを決定。釈放した。男は祖父が抗日烈士、祖母が強制連行された慰安婦で、慰安婦問題での日本政府の姿勢に不満を抱いて犯罪におよんだと供述していた。

2013年9月には、放火目的で韓国人の男が敷地に無断侵入し、拝殿にシンナー入りのペットボトルを投げつけたが、現行犯で逮捕された。放火予備容疑などで追送検されている。
