イギリスに拠点を置くNGO・シリア人権監視団（SOHR）は8月30日、イラクのクルド人地区などに住んでいた少数宗派ヤジディ教徒の女性多数が、イスラム教スンニ派の過激派組織「イスラム国」によって誘拐され、売られていると明らかにした。
SOHRのFacebookによると、イスラム国はこれまでの数週間でイラクのヤジディ教徒の女性約300人を戦利品として誘拐し、シリアへ移送。うち27人については、一人あたり1000ドル（約10万円）で売られ、イスラム教へ改宗させられたうえに結婚を強いられたことを確認しているという。
3週間前には、これらの女性を救い家族のもとに返すために、アラブ人やクルド人がイスラム国からこれらの女性を買い受けようとしたが、イスラム国のメンバーのみに売られたとされる。
イギリス・インディペンデント紙によると、イスラム国兵士の多くが未婚で結婚を望んでいるとされ、2014年7月には、イスラム国兵士との結婚を望む人のための結婚相談所が開設されたことが報じられた。
