シリアの難民危機、規模の大きさを物語るヨルダン・ザータリ難民キャンプの写真

2013年の頭から1日平均6千人の国民が戦争で引き裂かれた祖国を脱出しているシリアの状況を、国連は近代史でもっとも悲惨な人道的危機とみている。2011年3月の紛争勃発以来、180万人のシリア人が公式に難民として登録されており、ヨルダン、イラク、トルコそしてレバノンなどの近隣諸国に避難している。

ケリー米国務長官のヨルダン訪問の際に撮影された下の写真は、シリアの難民危機の規模の大きさを再認識させるショッキングな写真だ。AFPによれば、ザータリには現在16万人のシリア難民が滞在しており、これはヨルダン国内の5番目の都市の人口に匹敵する。AP通信はその数を11万5千人としている。

国連によれば、すでに9万3千人の犠牲者を出したシリアの紛争は、1994年のルワンダにおける大虐殺に次ぐ人道的危機だ。
