アメリカ連邦政府の国家情報長官室は、5月20日にパキスタンのオサマ・ビンラディン容疑者の潜伏先で押収した資料公開したが、その中には「アルカイダに入るための応募書類」が含まれていた。

それぞれのページには、アルカイダの透かし印と「アルカイダ治安委員会」という文字、それに「信仰の民よ、警戒せよ」というアルカイダのスローガンが記載されている。

応募書類の最初には「質問に正確に答えるように」「この情報は他の応募者と共有しないように」といった注意事項が書かれ、その後に質問が続く。

まず最初に聞かれるのは、志願者のニックネームや父親の職業などの個人情報だ。学歴を記入する欄もあるが、そこには「アッラーからその学歴という贈り物を授けられたのはいつか?」という質問が書かれている。学歴は自分の力で獲得したものではなく、神から授けられるもののようだ。

また他にも、こんな質問も並んでいる。

  • コーランをどれくらい暗唱できるか? シャリーア(イスラム教の法典)を勉強したか?また、誰に師事したか?
  • 文系か理系か?
  • 化学や通信、その他の分野で働く知り合いか専門家がいるか?
  • 家族や友人の中に、政府で働いている人はいるか? もし知り合いがいる場合、その人はアルカイダに協力して、活動を支援する意思はあるか?
  • パキスタンを何度訪れたことがあるか? またその理由は?
