アートとガラクタの違いって何？
それを見分けるのは簡単ではないと、アメリカ・ニュージャージー州に住む女性は実感している。なんと彼女は、最近購入したガラクタ箱の中から、アンディ・ウォーホルの版画をみつけたのだ。
詳細はこうだ。女性は、地域情報コミュニティサイトのクレイグス・リストで売りに出されていた200ドルのソファを買った。おまけとして、ガラクタが入った箱も付いてきた。
ニューヨーク市ローワー・イースト・サイドでソファとガラクタ箱を受け取り、自宅で開けてみると、中から虹色の男性器の版画が出てきた。それはあのポップアートの巨匠の作品に驚くほど似ていた。
もしやと思い、調べてもらったところ、版画は予想した通りアンディ・ウォーホルの作品だった。男性の肉体を鮮やかな色調で描いた、ウォーホルの「トルソ」シリーズの一部だったという。
作品は現在オークションサイト「パドル8」で売りに出されていて、6万〜8万ドル（約700〜930万円）の値段が付くと見られている。
アートとガラクタを見分けるのは難しいのだ。断捨離する時は、よく考えてから捨てよう。
