諦めなくてよかった。イタリア地震から6日目に1匹の猫が救出される(動画)

6日目に奇跡が起きた。

8月24日にイタリア中部を襲ったM6.2の地震から6日たった8月29日、崩れ落ちたがれきの中から、1匹の猫が救出された。

救出された猫ジョイア(イタリア語で「喜び」を意味する)は、ひどい脱水症状に苦しんでいたが意識はあったとニュースサイト「ザ・ローカル」イタリア版が伝えた。

上記の動画では、救出後に消防士がペットボトルから注いだ水を、ジョイアがごくごくと飲む様子がうつされている。

ジョイアの飼い主ダニエラ・ターシーニは、地震後に自宅から逃げる際ジョイアを連れて行こうとしたが、パニックになったジョイアはどこかに隠れてしまった。その後の余震で、ターシーニの自宅は崩壊してしまった、とテレグラフ紙が伝えている。

ターシーニは崩れた自宅から離れず、消防士に「お願いします。どうか猫を探してください。ジョイアは私に残された全てなんです。家も何もか私は失いました」と懇願した。地震発生から6日、生存の可能性ほとんどない中、消防士たちはブルドーザーを使ってがれきの中を探し、ジョイアを見つけ出した。全てを失ったターシーニにとって、ジョイアの救出は奇跡となった。

ジョイアを救出した消防士のアンドレアは、2009年にM6.3の地震に襲われたラクイラの出身だった。「地震で全てを失うというのがどんな気持ちか、私にはわかります」と述べたとテレグラフ紙が伝えている。

ターシーニさんの自宅があるイタリア・アマトリーチェなどを襲った地震では、これまでに292人の死亡が確認されている。
