過激派組織ダーイシュ（イスラム国）系のグループが2月15日、リビアで拘束したエジプト人のコプト教徒（キリスト教の一派）21人を殺害する動画を公開した。ロイター他が報じた。
BBCによると、動画ではオレンジ色のオーバーオールの囚人服を来た男性たちが海岸の砂浜に伏せられ、首を切り落とされた。

拘束されたエジプト人の男性たちは全員コプト教徒。コプト教とは紀元1世紀頃からエジプトで独自の発展をしたキリスト教の一派だ。男性たちは2014年12月から15年の1月にかけてリビア中部沿岸のシルトで拘束されたとみられる。
シルトはリビアの最高指導者だった故カダフィ大佐の出身地で、2011年にシルト付近で反体制派の民兵に殺害された。また、2月14日にはダーイシュを支持していると見られる武装集団に国営ラジオ局が占拠された。
ドバイの衛星テレビ局「アルアラビヤ」によると、エジプトのシシ大統領は安全保障に関する政府高官を招集して緊急会合を開いた。また、シシ大統領はテレビ演説で「エジプトと世界は過激派武装集団の台頭で猛烈な脅威に直面している。彼らには人間性のかけらもない」と非難した。
