湖の上空で光る稲妻をとらえたこの一枚は実に魅力的だ。昨今の異常気象をテーマにした写真の傑作と言えるだろう。

ところがこの写真は、あなたが考えているものとは違う。実はこの画像は、3次元のフォト・リアリスティックな作品を専門とする視覚芸術家であるマシュー・アルバニーズ氏が制作したものなのだ。

アルバニーズ氏の略歴によると、同氏が最初に自然の風景を創造するインスピレーションを得たのは、容器からこぼれたパプリカを目にした時だという。

同氏はそこから火星の風景を作り出した。アルバニーズ氏はその後、「火山の噴火」から「美しい珊瑚礁」にいたる様々な作品を生み出している。
