高齢出産を揶揄のイタリア政府「子作りの日」キャンペーン広告が炎上、取り下げに

出生率低下を食い止めようと、イタリア政府が9月22日に行う予定のキャンペーン「子作りの日」に向けた事前広告などがネット上などで非難を浴び、ベアトリーチェ・ロレンツィン保健相は9月2日、キャンペーン変更を命じたことを発表した。ガーディアンなどが報じた。

キャンペーンはイタリア保健省が実施しているもの。9月22日を「子作りの日(Fertility Day)」と設定し、不妊治療や高齢出産、家族計画についての啓発イベントなどが予定されている。イタリアの合計特殊出生率は1.39と日本(1.43)よりもさらに低く(ともに2013年で比較)深刻な社会問題になっているためだ。

ポスターは、砂時計を持った女性がお腹をさすっている写真を使い「生殖能力には年齢の限界がある」と示唆したものや、滴り落ちる水の写真に寄せて「生殖は共通の利益」などと書かれたもの「若い両親が最良」とするものもあった。

これらのポスターに対して、「大きなお世話」「年齢差別」と不快感を表明する意見が殺到。急先鋒である作家・ジャーナリストのロベルト・サビアーノ氏はイタリアのメディア、ラ・リパブリカで「自己決定の原則を損なう全体主義的なもの」と厳しく批判している。

ロイターによるとイタリアは若者(15〜24歳)の失業率が44.2%(2015年6月)と、1977年の統計開始以来最も高い水準となっている。

キャンペーンを揶揄するツイッターでは、妊娠検査薬に「国外で仕事を探そう」と書かれている画像が人気を集めている。政府の貧弱な子育て支援策や国内経済の現状により、子どもを産み育てるのが難しい環境について風刺したものだ。
