欧州議会が検索大手・Googleの事業の分割を求める決議採択を目指していることが11月21日、分かった。同社がネット検索で圧倒的なシェアを持つことで、公正な競争が妨げられているという。イギリスのフィナンシャル・タイムズが報じた。

同紙が入手した草案によると、Googleに対して求めるのは、同社の広告などのサービスから検索エンジンをアンバンドル（分離）すること。検索と他のビジネスを分離させることで、Googleによるサービス独占を減らすことが目的だとされる。

Google検索のヨーロッパでのシェアは90％だと言われている。欧州連合（EU）の政治家の多くは、GoogleなどのアメリカのIT企業がヨーロッパで圧倒的支配力を行使しているのに対し懸念を表明しており、Googleがこの圧倒的なシェアによって競合を排除するような制約を設けるなどで公正な競争を妨げていると警告していた。

Google分割の決議案は欧州議会の2大勢力の支持を得ている状態で、月内にも採択される予定。欧州議会の決議には、内容を強制する権限はないとされるが、Googleに厳しく対応するよう、EUの欧州委員会など規制当局に圧力をかける狙いがある。
