イスラム原理主義組織ハマスが実行支配するパレスチナ自治区ガザからロケット弾が7月9日、イスラエル南部ネゲブ砂漠にあるディモナ原子力センターに対して発射された。地元メディアの報道として、MSN産経ニュースなどが伝えた。

ロケット弾は、対空防衛システム「アイアンドーム」が撃墜したり、空き地に着弾したりしたため、被害や負傷者は確認されていない。

原子炉1基を擁する同センターはガザから約80キロの場所にあり、事実上の核保有国とされるイスラエルの核兵器開発にも関連があるとみられている。ロケット弾が原子炉からどの程度の距離に着弾したのかは不明。

一方、イスラエル軍は10日もガザへの空爆を継続した。AP通信などによると、軍事作戦が開始されて以降、ガザでは子供や女性を含む少なくとも61人が死亡、数百人が負傷した。これまでのところ、イスラエル側に死者は出ていない。

イスラエルのネタニヤフ首相は、空爆が長期化する可能性もあると述べた。同国はロケット弾攻撃が続けばガザへの地上侵攻もあり得るとしている。

8日に開かれたイスラエルの閣議では、必要となれば予備役4万人を招集する方針が承認された。軍報道官によると、これまでに動員した予備役は約1000人にとどまっている。同報道官は、地上戦に突入する可能性に言及した。
