錦織圭、準決勝を棄権 テニスのソニー・オープン

テニスのソニー・オープン準々決勝で元世界ランク1位のロジャー・フェデラーを破り4強に進出した錦織圭は28日、準決勝のノバク・ジョコビッチ(セルビア)戦を足の付け根の故障のために棄権した。

テニス=ソニーOPで錦織とベルディハが棄権、決勝は2強で

テニスのソニー・オープン準々決勝で元世界ランク1位のロジャー・フェデラーを破り4強に進出した錦織圭は28日、準決勝のノバク・ジョコビッチ(セルビア)戦を足の付け根の故障のために棄権した。

錦織は先月のデルレイビーチ国際でも同じ理由により2回戦を途中棄権。同個所の故障にはしばらく悩まされており、今大会でも万全ではなかったが、フェデラー戦の終盤になって痛みが激しくなったという。準決勝で戦うことを楽しみにしていたが、非常に残念と述べた。

錦織は今後日本に帰国し、医師の診断を受けて来月行われる男子の国別対抗戦、デビスカップのチェコ戦に出場するかどうかを決めるという。

もう1つの準決勝でラファエル・ナダル(スペイン)と対戦するはずだったトマーシュ・ベルディハ(チェコ)は、胃腸炎のために棄権を発表した。

この結果、決勝では世界ランク1位のナダルと同2位のジョコビッチが戦うことに。本大会4回目の決勝進出で初優勝を目指すナダルに対し、先週のBNPパリバ・オープンで優勝したばかりのジョコビッチは本大会4回目の王座を狙う。[マイアミ 28日 ロイター]
