まるでゴッホの絵が動いているような油彩画のアニメーション（動画）

ネット上では「これは素晴らしい」「これが本当にアニメーションなの？すごいなあ」「この映画がオスカーを獲得することを祈っているよ」など、絶賛する声が相次いでいる。

ポスト印象派の画家として知られる19世紀のオランダの画家ヴィンセント・ファン・ゴッホ。代表作の「ひまわり」や「自画像」を始め、強烈な色彩とタッチで描かれた作品にはファンも多い。その一方で、晩年は精神疾患を患い、自分の左耳をカミソリで切り落とすなどの逸話でも知られている。

そんな彼の人生を、ゴッホ風のタッチの絵によるアニメーション映画で描くプロジェクトが、ポーランド北部の港湾都市グダンスクで進められている。動画サイト「Youtube」で公開されている予告映像は140万回以上も再生されている。

題名は「Loving Vincent」。公式サイトによると、監督はポーランド人画家でディレクターのドロタ・コビエラ。2008年にアカデミー賞（短編アニメ映画部門）を受賞したヒュー・ウェルチマンもプロデューサーとして参加している。

この80分間の映画を作るため、約5万6000枚の絵が必要になるという。そのために、ゴッホの技法を訓練した100人を超える画家たちが制作に参加している。

ゴッホは1890年7月にパリ郊外で37歳の生涯を終えた。映画ではゴッホが残した800通の手紙を通して、ゴッホの死にまつわる謎を検証するという。
