赤丸は2次・3次感染をもたらした患者、青丸は患者や見舞客などの感染者、緑丸は医療関係者の感染者、黒丸は死者。番号は陽性判定が出た順番。グレーの枠は2次感染、緑の枠は3次感染を表す。
韓国で感染が拡大しているMERS（中東呼吸器症候群）は、感染者を厳密に隔離できなかった保健当局の対応に問題があったと指摘されている。
6月4日現在で陽性反応を受けた患者35人がどこで感染したのか、図にまとめると、最初に感染した60代の男性（1）が、感染に気付かず入院したり、治療を受けたりした3カ所の病院（A〜C）で、感染が拡大していることがわかる。男性が韓国で初のMERS患者として陽性判定を受けたのは、C病院で治療を受けた3日後だった。
3次感染の死者も発生
14番目と陽性判定が出た男性と、16番目に陽性判定が出た40歳の男性は、さらに別の医療機関計3カ所で治療を受け、そこで接触した計6人が感染した。16番目の患者と同じ病院に入院し、MERSの隔離対象となっていた80代の男性患者が6月3日、死亡。韓国保健福祉部は4日、陽性と判定されたと発表した。韓国で3次感染による死者は初めて。
また、3番目の患者の息子が、見舞ったあとに出国し、中国で陽性判定を受けている。この男性が乗った飛行機は、機体を消毒しないまま仁川や名古屋などを往復していたことが報じられた。
