韓国保健福祉省は４日、中東呼吸器症候群（ＭＥＲＳ）の感染者が新たに５人確認され、計３５人になったと発表した。新たな感染者はＭＥＲＳ患者の治療にあたっていた医療スタッフ２人、感染者と同じ病室に入院していた患者１人。
あとの２人は最初の感染者が入院した別の医療機関の病棟を訪れたことがあるという。
同省によると、新たな感染者は検査で陽性が確認される前の患者に接触していた。
韓国では先月、サウジアラビアとアラブ首長国連邦（ＵＡＥ）に渡航した後帰国した男性（６８）の感染が初めて確認され、家族や病院の看護師、同じ病室の入院患者らの感染が相次いで判明。これまでにＭＥＲＳで２人が死亡している。
