フランス南部のニース市で7月14日夜、フランス革命記念日の花火見物客にトラックが突っ込んだ。検察当局は少なくとも75人が死亡した恐れがあり、100人以上が負傷したと述べた。CNNなどが報じた。地元メディアや目撃者によるとテロの可能性があるという。

ニース市のセバスチャン・ハンバート市長代理はロイターに、トラックの運転手は射殺されたと述べた。

ニース市があるアルプ=マリティーム県のシルヴィ・トフィン報道官はAP通信に、トラックが見物客に突っ込んだのは意図的なもので、「襲撃だった」と述べたが、詳細な説明は避けた。

ニース市に住むワシム・ボウヘルさんはAP通信の取材に対し、「道路の上はまるで大虐殺が起きたようだった」「遺体が散乱していました」と語った。

AFP通信は、白いバンが猛スピードで歩行者たちの列に突っ込み、次々に跳ね飛ばされたと伝えている。

フランスのフランソワ・オランド大統領は事件に対応するため、パリで緊急危機管理会合を招集した。

警察は住民に外へ出ないよう呼びかけ、医療チームが現場に急行している。

SNSには通りにいる人たちが走って逃げる様子が次々と投稿された。衝突の原因はまだはっきりしない。
