イスラエルの占領下にある東エルサレムで16歳のパレスチナ人少年が誘拐・殺害された事件で、少年が生きているうちに体に火をつけられ、大やけどで死亡した可能性が高いことが分かった。

イスラエルの占領下にある東エルサレムで16歳のパレスチナ人少年が誘拐・殺害された事件で、少年が生きているうちに体に火をつけられ、大やけどで死亡した可能性が高いことが分かった。パレスチナのマアン通信が7月6日に報じた。

暫定的な検視の結果、16歳のムハンマド・アブ・クデール君は、誘拐犯によって生きたまま火で焼かれたことを示していると、パレスチナ政府幹部が金曜日の夕方に明らかにした。

パレスチナとイスラエルの間では残忍な殺人の応酬が続いている。きっかけは、イスラエルの占領下にあるヨルダン川西岸のパレスチナ自治区ヘブロン近郊で6月30日、行方不明になっていたイスラエルの少年3人とみられる遺体が発見されたことだった。イスラエルのネタニヤフ首相は、パレスチナ人自治区のイスラム組織ハマスの犯行と主張。報復を宣言したが、ハマスは犯行を否定した。

その後、7月2日に東エルサレムで16歳のパレスチナ人少年が誘拐され、同日中に遺体で発見された。パレスチナ自治政府のアッバス議長は、イスラエル人入植者による犯行だと非難した。時事ドットコムによると、イスラエル紙ハーレツは6日、容疑者6人が逮捕されたと伝えている。

これらの事件が、双方の「憎悪の連鎖」を呼んだ。イスラエル治安部隊とパレスチナ住民の衝突が各地で相次ぎ、ハマスが実効支配するガザ地区ではイスラエル軍が空爆で、武装勢力がロケット弾攻撃で応酬する事態となっている。MSN産経ニュースでは次のように書いている。

ガザではここ1週間、散発的ながら空爆とロケット弾攻撃による衝突が続いている。イスラエルとハマス側の双方とも、大規模戦闘に発展するのは避けたいものとみられ、ガザに隣接しイスラエルとも国交があるエジプトによる仲介を模索しているとされる。

ただ、発端となった少年3人の殺害をめぐり、イスラエルのネタニヤフ首相がハマスの犯行と断定したのに対し、ハマスは関与を認めていない。双方とも相手の攻撃停止が先だと主張しており、安易に譲歩できない状態だ。

イスラエルとパレスチナの和平交渉は4月に中断。6月には分裂状態にあったパレスチナ主流派ファタハとハマスの双方が認める暫定統一政府が発足したことで、イスラエル側は反発を強めていた。
