\n (credit:http://nipunscorp.com)

This is not a road for the faint of heart, or those with a brand-new vehicle! It is still the main supply route for the Prudhoe Bay oilfields, and you will be sharing the road with large tractor-trailers. Windshields and headlights are easy targets of flying rocks. Most rental companies will not allow you to drive their cars on the Dalton. Trucks speeding along the slippery gravel track kick up thick clouds of dust or mud, reducing visibility to absolute zero; potholes take a heavy toll on cars and services, gas, and repairs are practically nonexistent. Don\'t even consider driving the Dalton unless you have 4-wheel drive, a CB radio, extra fuel, food, tires, and a trunk filled with supplies. This is grizzly country, so when camping, keep a clean campsite, storing food at least a quarter mile from where you sleep.\n\nSource: fairbanks-alaska.com (credit:http://science.nationalgeographic.com )

Sharp drop-offs, countless hairpins, a gravel surface and huge potholes: those words only adequately describe the Patiopoulo-Perdikaki Road, which links the two towns it\'s named after. Considered one of the most prohibitively dangerous roads when times were good in Greece, these days it\'s now more likely to resemble a minefield or post-monster truck rally arena.\n\nSource: oddee.com (credit:bcliving.ca)

Ruta 5 in Chile runs from the Peruvian border, connecting with Ruta 1 19km north of Arica, down to Puerto Montt where it connects via ferry to Chiloé island. \n\nDespite its relative modernity the road from Arica to Iquique is a notoriously dangerous drive. It winds through deep valleys with steep drops littered by the occasional vehicle carcass sitting eerily at the foot. The surrounding landscape is bare, almost vivid and often void of any distinguishing characteristics. It would be easy to lose concentration, as the vehicle skeletons suggest many have, and plunge into one of the imposing voids on either side. Also, the frequent dense fog can reduce visibility to zero in a matter of seconds if losing your focus wasn\'t easy enough!\n\nSource: dangerousroads.com (credit:http://autos.ca.msn.com)
イギリスで最も危険とされる「A537」(06 of11)

One of the most dangerous in Great Britain. \n\n\"The most dangerous road in Britain was named today in a damning report which concludes one in ten motorways and A roads present an \'unacceptably high risk to users\'.\n\nThe most lethal is the beautiful but deadly A537 which winds through the Peak District between Macclesfield in Cheshire and Buxton in Derbyshire and is known locally as the \'Cat & Fiddle road\'.\n\nHowever, road safety experts say it should more fittingly be dubbed \'the widow-maker\' because of its mounting death toll.\"\n\nSource: dailymail.co.uk (credit:eurorap.org)

This is the official federal-government highway to Yakutsk, and it is also the only one to get there. As there are no other roads, the intrepid motorists are doomed to wallow in this dirt, or wait in week-long 100 km car line-ups (they say women even gave birth there while waiting). \n\nSource: Darkroastedblend.com (credit:darkroastedblend.com)

The Stelvio Pass is one of the highest Alpine Passes of Europe with its 2758 m. There are 48 hairpin turns on the northern side of the pass. The original road was built in 1820-1825 by the Austrian Empire to connect the former Austrian province of Lombardia with the rest of Austria, covering a climb of 1871 m. Since then, the route has changed very little. The 60 hairpin bends, 48 of them on the northern side numbered with stones, are a challenge to motorists.\n\nfogonazos.es (credit:The Inquisitor)
