フィギュアスケートの全日本選手権2日目は12月27日、男子フリーが行われ、ショートプログラム（SP）で首位だった羽生結弦（20＝ANA）が3連覇を果たし、2015年3月に中国・上海で開催される世界選手権の代表入りを決めた。
羽生は冒頭の4回転サルコーで転倒したものの、その後は大きなミスなく滑り192.50点。SPの94.36点と合わせ、286.86点で圧勝した。SP3位でジュニアGPファイナル覇者の宇野昌磨（しょうま・17＝愛知・中京大中京高）がフリー165.75点、合計251.28点で2位。3位は小塚崇彦（こづか たかひこ・25＝トヨタ自動車）で合計245.68点だった。
町田樹（24＝関大）は合計242.61点で4位、無良崇人（むら たかひと・23＝HIROTA）は合計236.40で5位だった。
全日本選手権の3連覇は、高橋大輔以来。羽生は演技後のインタビューに答え、次のように話した。
「優勝自体は嬉しいんですけれども、サルコージャンプをミスしてしまったのと、かなり抑え気味でフリーを通していたので、ちょっと悔しいというか、不完全燃焼というか、そういう気持ちです。
（ジュニアの宇野が2位に入賞したことについて）（ジュニアのさらに下のクラスの）ノービスの時から一緒に試合をやっていたりだとか、割りと近い年齢ですし、僕にとっては同期のような感覚でいるんですけれども、すごく嬉しいなと思うのと同時に、もっと（シニアの）みんなでがんばっていかないといけないなという気持ちにもなりました。（今季ミスが多く課題となっていた）最後のルッツ（ジャンプ）はシニアの意地を見せました。
（世界選手権や今後に向けて）もちろん、ノーミスしたいという気持ちはあります。ただ、ノーミスすることが全てではないですし、ノーミスするために何をしていくべきか、または、良い演技をするために何をしていったらいいのかを、しっかりと毎日毎日、過程を大事にしながらこれからやっていきたいと思います」

また、2位に入った宇野は「フリーの最後のジャンプで大きいミスをしながらも、海外の試合よりも良い点がでて自分でもびっくりしています。自分がこれまで練習してきた結果で、最終グループに入ることができたのかなと、全然嬉しさが違いました。最終グループの中でシニアの選手の人たちと戦えるというのが嬉しかった」と述べた。
