米中央軍のツイッターのアカウントが12日、イスラム過激派組織「イスラム国」の同調者と見られる勢力に乗っ取られた恐れがある。

米中央軍のツイッターとユーチューブの公式アカウントが12日、イスラム過激派組織「イスラム国」の同調者を名乗るハッカーに乗っ取られた。

中央軍はフロリダ州のマクディル空軍基地に司令部を置き、米軍の中東、および中央アジアでの活動を総括。これまでにイラクとアフガニスタンでの戦闘活動を取りまとめたほか、現在は「イスラム国」への空爆作戦を指揮している。

中央軍のツィッターに投稿されたのは、「アラーの名において、サイバー・カリファは、サイバージハードを継続する」などのメッセージ。米政府当局者によると、今回のハッキングを受け、中央軍のツイッターとユーチューブのアカウントは一時的に閉鎖された。

当局者はハッキングを受けたことを認める一方で、深刻な事態ではないとの認識を表明。ウォーレン国防総省報道官は記者会見で、「迷惑な行為だが、機密情報などが漏えいしたわけではない」とし、国防総省は今回の事態を「悪ふざけかいたずら」と見ていると述べた。

ホワイトハウスのアーネスト報道官も記者会見で、米政府はハッキング行為は「深刻なものとして受け止めている」としながらも、「大規模なデータ流出と、ツィッターアカウントの乗っ取りとの間には大きな違いがある」とし、今回はそれほど重大な事態ではないとの見方を示した。

実際、ハッカーが掲載した情報はインターネットで容易に検索できるもので、国家安全保障に関わるような重要な情報は含まれていないもよう。

テロ対策が専門の民間調査会社、クロノス・アドバイザリーのマイケル・スミス最高執行責任者は、「他人のソーシャル・ネットワーキング・サービスや電子メールのアカウントを乗っ取ることは、それほど難しいことではない」とし、乗っ取りはよくあることだと述べた。
