タイ保健省は6月18日、国内で初めての中東呼吸器症候群（MERS）コロナウイルス感染者が確認されたと発表した。中東オマーンから入国した、75歳のオマーン人男性だという。
政府は飛行機や空港、タクシー、ホテルなどを含め、男性と接触したとみられる59人についても、病院や自宅で健康状態を観察している。
