建築家の安藤忠雄さん（73）が3月10日、東京・三田のイタリア大使館で、同国の功労勲章グランデ・ウフィチャーレ章を受章した。朝日新聞デジタルなどが報じた。
イタリア国内で、歴史的な建造物にコンクリートの新築を組み合わせる作品を通じて、芸術・文化的財産の保護、再生に貢献したことなどが評価されたという。
安藤さんは高校を卒業後、独学で建築を学び、コンクリートの風合いを生かした建築物など独自のスタイルを追求し、2010年に文化勲章を受章した。
安藤さんは「若いときにイタリアのパンテオンを見て、その光の空間に魅了されたのが今の自分を形づくる要素のひとつとなっている。人の心を勇気づける建築を造りたいと思った。その国の勲章をいただけて大変うれしい」などと語った。
