1月12日が2020年の東京オリンピック開催まで2020日前となったことを受け、国際オリンピック委員会（IOC）は13日、Vine動画を公開した。6秒の短い動画は、東京・浅草の浅草寺の画像を背景に「2020 days to go!（あと2020日）」の文字が現れるシーンと、1964年に開催された東京オリンピックで拍手する観客の姿で構成されている。
なお、12日には東京オリンピック・パラリンピック競技大会組織委員会が、東京都庁都民広場でカウントダウンイベントを開催。ゲストとして招かれた競泳男子の萩野公介（東洋大）ら新成人アスリートが、約500人の新成人と共に「2020」の人文字を作った。
