喜多川歌麿の版画が8800万円、史上最高額で落札 仏紙も「傑作」と絶賛

日本版画の落札額としては、史上最高額。

江戸時代中・後期の浮世絵師、喜多川歌麿の絵画が6月22日、パリで競売にかけられ、74万5000ユーロ(約8800万円)で落札された。日本の木版画の落札額としては、史上最高額だと現地紙フィガロ電子版などが報じた。

落札された「深く忍恋」(ふかくしのぶこい)東京国立博物館

フィガロ電子版によると落札されたのは、歌麿の代表的画集「歌撰恋之部」の中の1つ「深く忍恋」。手にキセル持ち、物憂げな表情を浮かべる女性が描かれており、フィガロは「傑作」と讃えた。版画は、「浮世絵界のガゴシアンギャラリー」とも呼ばれる、日本で活動しているアメリカの業者が落札した。

■浮世絵・喜多川歌磨とは

江戸時代中・後期の浮世絵師。喜多川派の祖。役者絵で用いられていた大首絵を美人画に採用。大胆な構図で描いた豊かな表情の女性像に定評があり、美人画の最高峰として知られる。しかし、寛政期の終わり頃から美人大首絵が禁止されたことや、乱作も相まって質の低下を見せる。晩年は筆禍事件で手鎖の刑を受けるなど、失意のうちに没した。

当初の記事では「版画はアメリカのガゴシアン・ギャラリーが落札した」とありましたが、正しくは「版画は、浮世絵界のガゴシアンギャラリーとも呼ばれる、日本で活動しているアメリカの業者」でした」でした。
