タイ洞窟、活動再開で新たに4人を救出 少年4人、コーチ1人が残る【UPDATE】

タイ北部の洞窟に閉じ込められている少年らの救出活動が7月9日午前(現地時間)に再開され、新たに4人の少年を救出した。CNNが報じた。8日夜に4人の少年が救助されており、これまでに8人の少年が救出された。洞窟内には少年4人、コーチの男性1人の計5人が残っている。

ガーディアン紙によると、チェンライ県のナロンサク・オソタナコルン知事は、「午前11時頃、第2の救助チームが洞窟に入った」と発表した。洞窟の浸水部分を泳いで移動するために必要な空気ボンベを設置しなければならず、すぐに再開ができない状態だったが、当初の予定より「5時間ほど」早く救助を再開できたという。

オソタナコルン知事によると、救出活動にあたるチームは、前日の救出活動で体力を消耗したダイバー以外、1度目の救出時と同じメンバーという。

洞窟に閉じ込められたのは、同じサッカーチームに所属する11~17歳の少年12人とコーチを務める男性(25)。

6月23日、タイ北部チェンライ郊外のタムルアン洞窟に入ったが、大雨の影響で大量の水が洞窟内に入り込んで浸水した。少年らは引き返せなくなり、約4キロ奥にとどまることを余儀なくされた。

彼らのいる場所は、洞窟の入り口から約5キロ奥の場所だという。さらに洞窟内には、ところどころ狭くなっている場所もある。

大雨など現地での悪天候が予想されたため、タイの地元当局は救出作業を急ぐことを決断。7月8日にダイバーらを向かわせ、まずは4人を助け出すことに成功した。4人の健康状態は良好だという。

CBSニュースによると、洞窟内の浸水部分では、少年らはダイバーに付き添われながら泳いで移動する。ダイバーが背負う空気ボンベを少年らも共有している。問題なのは、水中での移動は約3時間を要するという点だ。

6日には活動中の元特殊部隊員が亡くなった。洞窟の奥へと空気ボンベを運び終えて戻ってくる際、自身の空気がなくなり、酸欠状態になったとみられる。洞窟内での移動の難しさが改めて浮き彫りになった格好だ。

空気が足りなくなったときに備え、移動経路に代えのボンベを事前に設置する必要がある。そのため、作戦本部はタイ海軍の特殊部隊員や国外のダイバーら計90人体制で慎重に準備を進めている。
